Beaver Creek closes out the year with its signature New Year's Eve celebration in the pedestrian village.
More than 200 skiers and snowboarders light up the slopes in an early-evening ski down, followed by the first of two fireworks shows over the mountainside. A second show later in the evening rings in midnight.
Between the pyrotechnics, the village fills with winter light-circus street performers - jugglers, fire dancers, and aerialists - plus ice skating and family-friendly festivities. The early-evening timing makes it easy for families to join the celebration.
Most of the fun is free to watch from the pedestrian village, though some associated parties and bashes are separately ticketed.
