Vail welcomes the new year with a torchlit descent of Golden Peak and a valley-wide fireworks show.
On Thursday, December 31, 2026, Vail Ski and Snowboard School instructors descend Golden Peak in formation holding lit flares in the resort's annual New Year's Eve Torchlight Parade, beginning around 6:15 p.m.
The torchlight parade is followed at about 6:25 p.m. by a fireworks display over the mountain. The early-evening timing makes it easy for families to watch, and the show is visible from Vail Village, Golden Peak, Lionshead, and across I-70 in West Vail. Best of all, it's completely free.
