Consumer confidence rises for second month in a row… HOWEVER
The Consumer Confidence Index increased for the second month in a row this December, according to The Conference Board, a New York-based research group.
However, the overall index continues to measure lower than usual, and has slid since August. Mark Vitner, senior economist at Wells Fargo, explains that a chronically low CCI could be a warning light for 2010. “It tells me folks are seeing little tangible improvements in the economic environment, and there’s a huge disconnect with what happening in the stock market and what’s happening on Main Street,” Vitner said.
