KEYSTONE RESORT TO HOST XTERRA WILD RUNNING FESTIVAL, JULY 12-14
Honolulu, HI (March 1, 2013) – Get ready for a Wild experience!  XTERRA is hosting a trail running extravaganza like no other with seven races – from silly to serious – that all ages and skill levels can enjoy at Keystone Resort in Keystone, Colorado on July 12-14, 2013.The signature event is the XTERRA Wild obstacle course run – built to be tough, muddy, and fun with a series of man-made and natural hazards for runners to navigate and conquer.

Other trail races on tap include the…

• XTERRA Run to the Sun – an uphill trail challenge featuring 2,000 feet of climbing
• XTERRA Night Run – welcome to the Dark Side!
• XTERRA Wild Kids K – fun for the wee ones
• XTERRA Keystone 5K/10K – for the Summit County Scramblers in all of us
• XTERRA Snake River Relay – a team-oriented dash-n-splash

“XTERRA, by nature, is a celebration of the healthy, active outdoors lifestyle and Keystone Resort provides the ultimate playground for such pursuits,” said XTERRA President Janet Clark. “The concept of hosting an exclusive runner’s weekend is a tribute to our trail running tribe – the fastest-growing segment of our community – and it also gives us the perfect platform to break out our very own XTERRA-style obstacle course race.”

While specifics about the XTERRA Wild remain under wraps (and a 40-inch base of snow) runners can anticipate an experience that melds XTERRA’s traditional laid-back vibe with a new generation of challenging adventures.

In addition to the myriad of races runners can expect a family friendly atmosphere, music and food, beer and wine, tons of trail running clinics, and a nightly gathering of kindred spirits.

And if all that’s not Wild enough, the event is being held in conjunction with the Keystone Wine and Jazz festival that’s just a short jog away at River Run. Centrally located in the Rocky Mountains, getting to Keystone Resort is easy with the Denver International Airport (DEN) just 90 miles east on I-70.

Plus, those that want to make it back-to-back weekends of XTERRA fun can join in the XTERRA Mountain Championship triathlon and trail runs the next weekend at Beaver Creek Resort in Avon, CO, July 20-21.
