An impending snow storm, expected to bring around 3 inches of accumulation at the local ski areas, will provide a nice dusting on newly open trails this weekend.

Hosting the Dew Tour this week, Breckenridge Ski Resort has taken the lead in the county for its total acreage offered, bringing the tally to 344 skiable acres.

Keystone Resort announced Friday 90 acres of additional terrain will open this weekend, including the season debut of North Peak, Keystone’s second of three peaks.

Also newly open for the weekend are first runs of the season on Last Alamo, which will provide bump skiing and riding and Prospector. Portions of the intermediate slopes Paymaster and Mozart will also make their season debut Friday.

Terrain park enthusiasts can enjoy the new jump line on Main Street, which opened a large jump and several rail features Tuesday. Overall, 320 acres will be available for the weekend, thanks to snowfall and continued efforts by Keystone’s powerful snowmaking and grooming team, according to ski area officials.

The new terrain on North Peak can be accessed by the Outpost Gondola from the top of Dercum Mountain and both the Santiago Express and Ruby Express chairlifts.
