Inpendence Day In Summit County

Posted in: Summit County Colorado- Jun 27, 2009 No Comments

talinda 2The greatest thing about summer in the Mountains is that it is COOL – the heat on most areas is just unbearable!  I like the fireworks over Dillon Reservoir from the Frisco side.  I go into the neighborhood by the cross county skiing area and park along the street and walk up to the waters edge with my family and a cooler.  The view is perfect the setting is amazing and the traffic out is very manageable.

I suggest getting there about an hour early and enjoying the location.  Set out a blanket and bring a cooler full of your favorite stuff.  The kids can run and play along the lake or in the lightly wooded areas around this side of  the lake.  Don’t rush out after the fireworks show.  Everyone does!  Sit and relax, wait for the rush and mossy on back to your car.  Summit County is about being laid back so get into the mode!

Also during your time in the County this holiday weekend I highly recommend the Alpine slides and a slow or fast rafting trip on the many FULL rivers this year.  Have fun, hope to see you in the county to cool off and relax with us….

Sailing

Lake Dillon, CO is famous for its sailing . we have 2 marinas one in dillon and one in frisco. the dillon yacht club was formed in 1968 it is the highest sailing club in the nation. you can rent a boat or take sailing lessons. boats range from small keel boats to 22 foot sail boats. they also have power boat and pontoon boat rentals. a day on the lake is a must while visiting summit county.

Float Fishing

While floating one of Summit County’s rivers you can fish, a great time with a professional guide! summit county has numerous fishing guides offering float trips. please check with RMRM guest relations for all the details.

Country Boy Mine

This a great time locally owned and operated. enter the world of a gold miner, pan for gold,
try the emergency miner shute ,what a blast!  one of my favorites when company is in town

White Water Rafting

Summit County, CO has access to numerous rivers for exciting rafting we also have a few spots for the whole family to enjoy river rafting. perhaps u want to try kayaking, we have great contacts for all your rafting and kayaking needs.

Hiking

Saving the best for last summit county hiking options are numerous. my favorite is a hike just south of breckenridge, Mohawk lake. the trail follows a beautiful mtn stream to lower Mohawk lake. for the more adventurous u can keep going to upper Mohawk lake. this is a highalpine environment with tons of wildflowers. summit county also has more family oriented hikes like tenderfoot mtn in dillon. either way your rmrm guest relations mngr can set u on your way to a great week in the mountains
Feel free to comment and add any of your favorite Summit County Activities!
God Bless,
